California State Railroad Museum 125 I St. Sacramento, CA 95814 USA Phone: (916) 445-6645 California State Railroad Museum, 2nd and I sts., is a three-story steel, brick and glass structure housing 21 restored locomotives and train cars. More than 40 interpretive exhibits, dioramas, pictures, murals and a 20-minute film presentation document the history of American railroading 1860-1960. A film is presented in the museum's theaters. The building's striking thematic design and gleaming exhibits are impressive. Steam trains of the Sacramento Southern Railroad transport visitors on a 6-mile journey weekends April through September. The trains depart from the freight depot in Old Sacramento at Front and K streets. Allow 2 hours minimum.

California Vietnam Veterans Memorial 15th St. & Capitol Ave. Sacramento, CA 95814 USA California Vietnam Veterans Memorial is at 15th and L sts., at the e. end of State Capitol Park. The 22 shiny black granite panels, built entirely with donations, are engraved with the 5,822 names of California's dead and missing from the Vietnam War. Full-relief bronze figures depict daily military life during that conflict.
